Diamond set gold betrothal ring. Dutch, mid 17th century.

£7,500.00Price

A diamond set gold betrothal ring.

Dutch, mid 17th century.

Ring size P UK / 7.5 US / 56 EU.

Weighs 3.1 grams.

The ring is centred with a heart set with a table cut diamond, clutched by two hands, both wearing fashionable lace cuffs. This ring features the ancient fede motif of two hands clasped together, however in their grasp is a heart. These symbols represented love and fidelity. The ring was likely a token of love symbolising everlasting devotion, or possibly a betrothal ring.
