A Roman silver ring set with a jasper intaglio of a striding bear, 2nd - 3rd century AD.
The intaglio measures 0.9 x 0.6cm.
Ring size I UK / 4.25 US.
Weighs 10 grams.
In excavated condition however the ring remains fully wearable.
Provenance: UK private collection since 1956; formed in the 1950s by Mr and Mrs S. Broukal, thence by descent.
